April Showers at Make My Monday

It's time for a new challenge at Make My Monday. This week we want to see makes with a theme of April Showers. I'm afraid I'm a bit late with entry and I must apologise for the photo. I've taken it about half a dozen times and this is the best I could get. It looks very washed out, but IRL it does look better - honest!

The stampis from Little Claire, the paper from my stash of 6 x 6 - no idea what make as it was just lying loose in the box.  Do pop over and visit the rest of the team to see what they have made.

Quirky Craft Challenge - Quirky Pets!

I am delighted to now be a member of the Quirky Craft Challenge team! This is my first card for them. The sponsor is The Cutting Cafe who provided some fun digis for us to work with. I decided to go for a pink elephant! I decided that would be suitably quirky! I coloured him with Promarkers and also round the edge of the frame. Mounted the image onto a scrap of black card and set it at a jaunty angle. The backing paper was some from a Simon Says Stamp card kit last year, I thought the black and white doodles looked good against the pink.

Rudolph Day - March

I'm just popping in at the very last minute with my Rudolph Day card. I've had it made for a couple of days but just not found the time to blog it.

I used the SU Sparkly Seasons stamp set and dies. When this set came out I wasn't very keen then someone gave me a card using it and I wished I'd bought it. Luckily I just found one on that well known auction site that had never been used. It's just a shame that the die set doesn't include one for the snowglobe base. I mounted it onto a snippet of Christmas paper. The red card and the white I stamped on all came out of the snippets box as well. So a trip to the Playground is called for as well.

In the Country - Cardz 4 Guyz

I am so glad that spring seems to have arrived at last! The last few days have been lovely - the down side is that I am going to have to cut the grass!

But enough of that it is time for a new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz and it is my turn to choose the theme. I have gone with "In the Country", lots of choice there I hope.

I decide to dust off one of my Joanna Sheen CDs - Jayne Netley Mayhew and printed off this sweet picture of two mice stocking up for winter. I added some raffia and some leaves from my stash and mounted it all onto a side fold A2 kraft card blank.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you create, and as always there is more inspiration on the challenge blog.

 

Sunday Scrapbooking

I have been going through my draft posts and right down at the bottom were three more layouts which I made quite a while ago . So I have combined them into one post for you.

Trees at Cardz 4 Guyz

Tuesday again and time for a new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz. Joan has chosen "Trees" as our theme.

I decided to use a NBUS stamp and die set from SU called Thoughtful Branches.  I added glossy accents to the apples but it doesn't show up very well in the photo, I think the sentiment is a Penny Black one.  I look forward to seeing what you all make, and don't forget to check out the super makes from the rest of the team. 

White Embossing

It's time for a new challenge over at Make My Monday. This week the challenge has been chosen by Pat and it is White Embossing. I decided to use   SU's Corner Garden stamp and emboss the flowers in white on black card. Yes I know my card is yellow!  After four attempts to emboss white on black I gave up. Either the stamped image didn't stamp properly - even using the Misti - or I ended up with specks of white where I didn't want them!

 

So I binned the black and pulled out a scrap of yellow, then coloured the flowers with Promarkers in shades of orange and yellow. The sentiment is a new one from Penny Black stamped in brown. I mounted the completed panel on dark brown card then into a 5 x 7 card blank.

Doodle

This fortnight Addicted to CAS  have a code word of Doodle. It gave me the perfect opportunity to use one of my Sarntangle stamps.

I simple stamped it in black and added a little touch of green, and mounted the oval onto a mat of matching green card. A sentiment from the same set of stamps finished the card.

A Chinese Garden

Quirky Craft Challenge is a new to me challenge, and this is their first challenge after restarting them. They want us to use a photo as inspiration for our creations. I decided to go with a scrapbook page.

When we were in Sydney in 2014 we found the Chinese Garden which is surrounded by western office blocks and buildings. It was an oasis of calm in a busy city and we spent quite a long time wandering around. You can see the modern buildings in the background of the photo of the Pagoda. I created the page in Craft Artist so I hope a digital entry is acceptable.

Cardz 4 Guyz - Numbers

The new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz this week is "Numbers" chosen by Jan. This fitted in perfectly with the need for a card for my grandson's birthday later this month.

I used a new football die bought at the Make It show last week, but was a bit disappointed to find that it only cut the outline and the hexagons were embossed. I had intended cutting them out in white and layering onto black, instead once I had embossed them I sponged black ink through the die.
