Butterfly Birthday!

Happy New Year! A bit late I'm afraid! Sorry for my lack of posts just don't seem to have had time to blog even though I have done a little creating!

I had a play with some of the new stamps in the Spring/Summer catalogue to make a card for a friend's birthday. Now that her birthday is past I can show it.
I used a pretty new set called Butterfly Basics which comes with a matching set of framelits to cut out the butterflies. I also used Work of Art to make the background. The flower was fussy cut and popped up with silicone glue as the stems were a bit too narrow to easily use foam pads. I am going to enter this in Time to Craft who are looking for stripes - think my stripes down the side should qualify, and Seize the Birthday without the topping.

Editedto add: Darnell has kindly reminded me of her NBUS challenge, never thought about entering this as it is new stuff and I always think of NBUS as being older stuff! Anyhow I'm heading on over there now to enter.

Make My Monday - Vacation

Good morning everyone. It's time for a new challenge at Make My Monday and this week it's my turn to choose the theme. As we are just at the start of the school holidays it's that time of year when everyone is setting off for a few days - or longer if they're lucky- to recharge their batteries! So my theme is Vacation. So whether it's the beach, a " staycation", or travelling to distant climes the DT want to see your creations. Here's mine:

I really enjoyed creating this and it was so easy with all the new stamp sets. The sea was made using the strip stamp from Work of Art and the sky used the smaller paint splash randomly, stamping off first to give a more subtle effect. The little birds were doodled in after I'd put it all together as I had managed to get a small black smudge just above the ship's mast. On most cards I'd have added a butterfly - but it didn't seem to fit with this card (lol)!! The shells were stamped on snippets and mounted on dimensionals. That means I can go and visit Pixies Snippets Playground where Di always want us to use snippets.

MMM end of term

My gosh it's Monday already! Welcome to a new challenge at Make My Monday. This week we want to see projects for End of term/Teacher Thanks/Graduation. My boys are all long past that stage so I went with the teacher thanks as it could be used  for any other sort of thank you.

I also kept it very simple and used a colour I wouldn't normally go for - orange. Not one of my go-to colours but I do like how it turned out. The white mat is out of my snippets box  as is the white tag so I'm going to link this up with Pixies Crafty Playground. I haven't been over there to play recently, but will have to do the link later as I have to take the car to the garage first. It needs a bit of TLC since I had a slight altercation with a bollard on the way out of the shopping centre carpark!
